Celebrate Lunar New Year in Chinatown

This Sunday, January 22, 2023 is the first day of the Lunar New Year, celebrating the Year of the Rabbit. The Lunar New Year is a fifteen day celebration.

2023, 2011, 1999, 1987, 1975, 1963, 1951, 1939, 1927


People born in a year of the Rabbit are called "Rabbits" and are believed to be vigilant, witty, quick-minded, and ingenious.

1/17 – New York City Council Lunar New Year and Losar Celebration

5:30pm to 7:30pm @ City Hall


1/22 – Lunar New Year Firecracker Ceremony & Cultural Festival

11am to 3:30pm @ Sara D. Roosevelt Park, Grand Street


2/7 – Super Saturday Lion Dances

10am to 7pm, Throughout Chinatown


2/12 – Lunar New Year Parade & Festival

1pm to 3pm, Starting at Mott Street/Canal Street
